ADA and TDA Grassroots Advocacy Protects Seniors From Damaging Medicare Dental Proposal

Texas dentists responded to ADA & TDA action alerts to let Congress know that the proposed Medicare Part B dental benefit would hurt low-income older Americans needing dental care and would not work for dentists.

Congress listened to dentists’ concerns. This morning, the US House of Representatives passed the “Build Back Better” bill (also known as the Budget reconciliation bill), without the Medicare Part B dental proposal. The legislation is now moving to the Senate.

The ADA remains committed to advocating at the Senate for ADA policy that will help low-income seniors access the dental care they need. Any dental benefit legislation under consideration must be sufficiently funded and efficiently administered.

Thank you to all TDA members that contacted their congressional representatives. Your advocacy made the difference! We will keep you informed as the Senate considers the legislation.
