Texas Dental Association: Helping Every Member Succeed

TDA connects dentists with each other, with patients, and with resources for life and career. TDA is a professional membership organization for dentists, and the 3rd largest state dental association in the US. The TDA is part of a tripartite affiliation with the American Dental Association at the national level, and component societies at the local level. The Association has more than 9,200 members, and is composed of 26 local component dental societies, grouped into 4 divisions across Texas.

ADA: Dentistry is Safe, Essential, and Should Continue

Nov 8, 2020

The American Dental Association (ADA) wants dental care to remain open and accessible. “The American Dental Association (ADA) firmly believes dental care can continue to be delivered safely,” ADA told the nation in a statement from ADA President Daniel Klemmedson, DDS, MD. “Dental care is essential health care. Regular dental visits are important because treatment, as well as prevention of dental disease, helps keep people healthy,” the statement says.

The ADA cites the guidance issued by ADA and CDC that safeguards patients; the fact that no cases of COVID have been traced to a clinical dental setting; and the JADA study showing that the COVID-19 infection rate among dentists is less than 1%. To read the ADA’s full statement, please click HERE.

TDA wholeheartedly agrees with this statement. It is not only safe to go to the dentist—it is better than safe. It is essential for patients’ overall health, and for preventing illness. And dentists are experts in infection control. In July, TDA released a video showing patients the enhanced protocols that Texas dentists are using to protect patients. Click HERE to see the video on Facebook and share to your own social media accounts. You can also watch it HERE on YouTube.

Your membership in TDA, ADA, and your local society allows organized dentistry to advocate for dentists and patients at the state and national level. For TDA’s full COVID-19 information, please visit www.tda.org/covid-19.
