ADA Announces the Sunset of SmileCon After 2025
In 2021, the American Dental Association (ADA) introduced SmileCon® as a bold reimagining of its annual meeting—an event created to inspire, connect, and empower dental professionals from across the country. Over the past several years, SmileCon has grown into a vibrant space for continuing education, networking, and innovation.
However, the ADA’s meeting strategy continues to evolve to better serve the profession. After thoughtful evaluation and in response to shifting attendance trends and rising event costs, the ADA has announced that SmileCon 2025 in Washington, D.C., will be the final SmileCon event.
What You Need to Know:
✅ SmileCon 2025 Will Proceed as Planned
The final SmileCon will take place October 23–25, 2025, in Washington, D.C., followed by the House of Delegates meeting from October 25–28, 2025.
✅ House of Delegates Meetings Will Continue
The ADA House of Delegates will continue to meet as required, including the 2026 session scheduled for October 10–13 in Indianapolis.
✅ Future of the ADA Annual Meeting
While SmileCon will conclude, the ADA is committed to fulfilling its obligation to host an annual scientific session, as outlined in the ADA Governance and Organizational Manual. The organization is actively exploring new formats and experiences to offer cutting-edge education, networking, and collaboration opportunities that meet the evolving needs of dental professionals.
