CALL TO ACTION: Dentists Asked to Donate Personal Protective Equipment

(Blast Email Sent 3-24-20)

During a recent COVID-19/coronavirus White House press briefing, Vice President Mike Pence called on dentists and other care professionals to donate N95 respirator masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to local hospitals that are reporting or suffering shortages while treating coronavirus patients.

This request is supported by Governor Gregg Abbott and members of the Texas Legislature including Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) who chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services. Senator Kolkhorst publicly thanked TDA for assisting with this important effort. Additionally, TDA president Dr Charles Miller is working directly with US Representative Dr Brian Babin to mobilize dentists’ PPE donations to help hospitals.

Needed PPE includes: NIOSH-approved N95 and higher-grade masks, other masks of any level, gloves, face shields, and medical grade splash protection gowns. If your office has any extra PPE supplies that you will not need for emergency dental procedures, we ask you to help your medical colleagues and front line health care responders that can’t access PPE due to the severe disruption of the PPE supply chain.
